BLOOMINGTON - After years of planning and many false starts, Amy Calhoun is ready to open her new wine cafe next month - an expansion of the downtown boutique store A. Renee she co-owns that will add eight to 10 jobs to the local economy.

She did it without the help of local banks, she said, and not for lack of trying. In her most recent round of appeals last year, she said she asked four local banks for a "nominal" loan.
