BLOOMINGTON - Angela Davis said the United States lives with the vestiges of slavery, and it is seen in the lack of rights for prisoners as well as those who have paid for their crimes.

"Racism plays a major role in determining who gets to go to prison and who does not," she said. "It gets to determine who has rights and who does not <\ who enjoys liberties and who does not."
