HUDSON - Five and a half years after they made history by becoming the youngest twins to get cochlear implants activated in each ear, Corey and Kyle Segerstrom are being mainstreamed into their home town school's kindergarten.

The successful mainstreaming of the 6-year-old twins - who were born with severe hearing loss - accomplishes a goal of the boys' parents, audiologists and speech-language pathologists.

"They're off to a great start," said Christine Peterson, the Unit 5 speech-language pathologist at Hudson Elementary School.

"I see their eagerness to learn and they're very social with their peers and not just with one another," she said. "They seem to be enjoying school."
