The rural areas of Central Illinois were especially hard hit by Tuesday's blizzard as snowplow drivers struggled against blowing snow to keep roads open.

"We are trying to keep up as best as we can," Livingston County highway Superintendent David Winters said Tuesday afternoon. "It just keeps on redrifting. We just can't keep up with it. It's not easy out there."
