If Risk of Hurting Child Can't Alter Your Driving, Lawscan

Summary

Parents with school-age children are not the only ones who have to change their routines now that school has resumed, and children are not the only ones who have to remember the lessons they may have forgotten over the summer.

Motorists need to refresh their memories about school-related rules of the road:- When you enter a school zone and children are present, slow down. Obey the posted school zone limit. It will give you more time to react if a child darts in front of your car. - The law placing the speed limit at 20 mph between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on school days when children are present also applies to school crossing zones, where signs are posted. - In general, when a school bus stops, with red lights flashing and stop signal arm extended, you must stop - even if you are traveling in the opposite direction. If you are driving in the opposite direction on a road with four or more lanes, you don't heed to stop, but you do need to drive cautiously.
