SPRINGFIELD -- A House committee approved legislation Friday that would require sexual assault offenders to pay for the long-term medical costs of their victims.
Under the proposal, which was sent to the House floor for further action on a 15-1 vote, defendants sentenced to prison still would be required to pay restitution, which the court tends not to order when a defendant is incarcerated.See the full content of this document
