Republican lawmakers in Illinois need to get beyond the rage and/ or jealousy of Gov. Rod Blagojevich's $10.3 million re-election war chest and think about capping campaign contributions as the federal government does.

Last month, the governor proposed capping individual donations at $2,000 and party/political action contributions at $5,000. Corporations and unions could not give anything unless they form political action committees to collect money from employees and members.
