After reading William E. Stephens' letter ("Democrats reach low ebb in this campaign," YourViews, March 19), I realize the views and attitudes he expresses are precisely why I am a Democrat and proud of it.

To be associated, even remotely, by party affiliation or otherwise with anyone who shares his view of the world is too frightening for me to comprehend.
