Summary


The agreement worked out by House-Senate negotiators to extend daylight-saving time by one month instead of two is a good compromise that should bring some of the energy-saving benefits of the extension without interfering as much with people's routines.

Under a plan hatched by the House in April, daylight-saving time would have started a month earlier in the spring and lasted a month longer in the fall.
