BLOOMINGTON - Plans for a Unit 5 middle school to be built in southeast Bloomington advanced Wednesday when the Bloomington Planning Commission approved rezoning the land and setting terms for annexing the land into the city.

The Normal-based school district wants to build the school on 40 acres along U.S. 150 and it intends to fund the construction of the school with a portion of the $96.7 million construction project going to the voters in a Feb. 5 referendum.
