Jeremy Pflederer scored nine of his game-high 24 points in a key third-quarter run as Tremont High School stayed alone atop the Heart of Illinois Conference standings with a 66-58 basketball victory over Deer Creek-Mackinaw on Friday night at Mackinaw.

Tremont (14-3, 8-0) trailed 31-27 at halftime before a 21-9 scoring blitz in the third quarter put the Turks ahead for good at 48-40. Matt Workman helped secure the win making 8 of 8 free throws in the final period en route to 15 points.
