BLOOMINGTON - A surge in holiday hiring at retail stores pushed the November jobless rate to its lowest level in McLean County in seven years.

Unemployment fell from 2.7 percent to 2.5 percent in McLean County last month, its lowest November level since 1999, according to a report released Friday by the Illinois Department of Employment Security. McLean tied with Woodford County for the second lowest rate in the state.
