Summary
Another hot, humid summer in Illinois, but as always there are lots of activities to get out and enjoy. Bloomington's National Night Out is one of them. On the evening of Aug. 1 at Miller Park, this event will once again offer food, fun and entertainment to the public. This crime- and drug-prevention-awareness event will celebrate the 80th anniversary of Route 66 with a car display and special booths by the Pontiac Route 66 Hall of Fame and Museum, and Steak 'n Shake.
There has never been any reason to come with any money to this free event. This year is different. Operation Porchlight will be there. This organization is a group effort by the United Way of McLean County, The American Red Cross of the Heartland, PATH and the Bloomington-Normal Trades and Labor Assembly. They will be collecting cash donations to help support the families of the Bloomington National Guard unit that recently left for Iraq and other military families in McLean County.See the full content of this document
