BLOOMINGTON - Rating the involuntary manslaughter of a Champaign man as the most serious he's seen in his career, a judge sentenced the defendant responsible for the death to 8 years in prison.

Xavier Cordova, 26, was convicted in February of causing the death of his roommate Mitchell Robinson during a September 2009 party in Normal. Robinson, 26, died as a result of being held in a choke hold, according to medical testimony.
