SPRINGFIELD -- Drivers with revoked or suspended driver's licenses because of drunken driving convictions no longer may be allowed to purchase cars under a proposal unveiled Wednesday.

Secretary of State Jesse White proposed the legislation, which also would prevent drivers with reckless-homicide convictions from purchasing a car. The measure is an attempt to keep dangerous drivers off the road.
