Information On Computer Won't Be Used at Trial

BLOOMINGTON - Prosecutors can not use information collected from a computer in the home of homicide victim Joseph McCauley at the upcoming trial of McCauley's son, Liam McCauley, who is accused of the August killing.

Judge Robert Freitag ruled Friday that a search warrant requested by police after McCauley's body was found at the family's home at 305 N. Clayton St., Bloomington, was not sufficient to justify taking the computer. Prosecutors said at a hearing last week that they intended to use information from the computer in their case against the 21-year-old defendant.
