Now it's time for a safety switch. By Sept. 1, farmers operating large, lumbering vehicles on Illinois roadways must attach new and improved slow-moving vehicle (SMV) signs. American Society of Ag Engineers officials estimate 750,000 Illinois tractors and farm implements need to have the new emblems.
