Summary
The No. 1 ranked and top-seeded Heartland Hawks Community College baseball team kept its quest for a national championship alive by fighting its way through the consolation bracket and into the title game of the NJCAA Region 24 Division II tournament at Lanphier Park in Springfield.
Heartland (51-9) was leading No. 3 seed Lincoln Land, 5-3, in the first of what the Hawks hope to be two contests against the Loggers (38-17), when rain and lighting forced the game to be suspended in the top of the fifth inning. Play will resume at 2 p.m. today and, if Heartland emerges victorious, the two teams will play again immediately afterwards for the regional championship.See the full content of this document
