SPRINGFIELD -- Illinois should impose federal-style limits on campaign contributions to restore confidence in government, a coalition of reform groups said Wednesday.

At a time when frequent news stories detail how large donors to Gov. Rod Blagojevich have won lucrative state contracts, eight organizations urged members of the General Assembly to cap individual contributions to statewide candidates at $3,000 and ban corporations and unions from directly donating money to political campaign funds.
