STANFORD -- Higher activity fees have slashed participation in extracurricular activities at Olympia schools, and whether those programs survive at all may depend on the outcome of March 16's tax increase referendums.

The district is trying to close a $3.9 million spending gap for 2004-05 by tripling its tax rates for two funds.
