BLOOMINGTON -- A state police investigator said he found no evidence a 16-year-old fired the gun that killed him, but a defense consultant said the death was a suicide.

A 17-year-old is on trial in the death of Lucas Boyd of Normal, who died of a gunshot wound to the head in August 2004 at the home of a friend's grandparents in Bloomington. He is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and involuntary manslaughter.
