In a free enterprise the price is directly related to supply and demand. There is no shortage of gas and all the stations have plenty to sell. So the supply line is good. The demand is normal or maybe even below normal since people have slowed down on driving. Now the holiday weekend comes into play. The demand will rise as families make holiday plans and the owners take advantage of the increased demand by hiking the prices. This is not price gouging but instead taking advantage of the demand to make a larger profit.See the full content of this document
