Ag Educators Focus On Specialty Growers

Summary


BLOOMINGTON Some larger producers this year will lose easy access to the expertise of University of Illinois Extension's commercial agriculture educators, as the system shifts more resources toward the burgeoning specialty crop and local food markets.

The changes are already under way but will officially set in July 1, when Extension's network of ag educators begin their new positions. It's part of a larger cost-cutting reorganization at Extension perhaps best known for its 4-H program prompted by a shortfall in state funding.
