Illinois Department of Natural Resources Director Joel Brunsvold's agreement to repay about $2,000 for use of a state aircraft to fly to charity hunting trips in South Dakota puts a small bandage on a big public relations wound at the agency.

Timing couldn't be much worse for disclosure that Brunsvold has used state planes and helicopters to fly from his home near the Quad Cities to events in other parts of the state -- not to mention the South Dakota trips.
