BLOOMINGTON - A shift in computer file storage from hard-wired drives to network "clouds" is saving the Bloomington District 87 school district money, and it also could become the wave of the future for school districts across the state.

Bloomington has been experimenting with Internet-based storage - commonly called cloud storage - and last year formed IlliniCloud, which would make the new method available for any school district that buys in.
