BLOOMINGTON - Pop singer Sheryl Crow is scheduled to open the U.S. Cellular Coliseum on March 31. Mike Nelson from Central Illinois Arena Management confirmed Wednesday the tour date posted to the Grammy-nominated singers Web site.Crow is on tour promoting her new album, Wildflower, which earned her two Grammy nominations this year including best pop album. Tickets are expected to go on sale Feb. 18 and prices are $55, $45 and $35.The Pantagraph is a sponsor of Crows concert. Nelson said the timing and routing of Crows tour worked out for her to be the Coliseums opening act. Crow has concerts in Indiana on March 24 and 25. "Weve had the cooperation of the contractor and the city to be ready March 31, and it all just works out," Nelson said. Phil Halcomb, project manager from Johnston Contractors, said the Coliseum will be ready by March 31. Johnston Contactors, the general contractors for the project, already had to have the building completed by April 1 for the Bloomington Extremes home opener.The 7,000-seat Coliseum is under construction at Front and Lee streets in downtown Bloomington. The construction cost is $37 million. Many concert promoters are aware this is the opening year for the Coliseum, Nelson said. "Weve been on everybodys radar screen because we are a new venue," Nelson said. "And we are in a great location."Joining Crow for her appearance in Bloomington will be country-rock vocalist Jack Ingram. On her Web site, Crow said Wildflower is deeply influenced by her former relationship with seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong. In addition to being nominated for pop album of the year, Crow was nominated for best female pop vocal performance for "Good is Good."
