Through the efforts of Cristina Deutsch, the center has had a Hispanic outreach program for 20 years. She has served as an interpreter, liaison and advocate for Hispanic families, so this new program announced by Gov. Rod Blagojevich is basically an extension of what the center has been doing. The basic difference is that the state program's goal is to reach legal immigrants from any country who want to become citizens.
