As an educator, business leader and youth volunteer, I have witnessed the aftermath of at-risk kids who don't have mentors in their lives that resemble them, and I have witnessed the sadness in their eyes when hope has been all but lost.
It is this conviction that causes my hurt and anger, which has further been promulgated by the recent events of the District 87 superintendent.
