If your holiday gift buying is squared away at this late juncture, good for you: just consider this an early-bird edition of GO!'s winter-spring arts and entertainment preview -- and plan beyond the weekend at hand accordingly.

Touring theater

The first "jukebox" Broadway show devoted to arena rock, Rock of Ages, brings the sounds of Journey, Styx, Bon Jovi and their brethren to the Peoria Civic Center Theater at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 17-18 ($19-$79).

The L.A. TheatreWorks production of Norman Corwin's The Rivalry, a dramatization of the Lincoln-Douglas debates, comes to the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 ($21.80- $33) -- just a handful of days past someone's birthday.
