For several years now, I have maintained membership in, or regularly received printed material from, the following environmental organizations: Sierra Club, Nature Conservancy World Wildlife Fund and the entity headed by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Natural Resources Defense Council.

While these groups were all actively operating during Bill Clinton's presidency, the mailings and magazines put out by these groups did not contain the urgent and dismayed tone conveyed by recent writings -- since George Bush became president. Consider the following situations.
