A layup at the buzzer by senior guard Daniel McIlvain lifted the Blue Ridge High School basketball team to a 46-44 victory over Heyworth on Tuesday night in a nonconference game at Farmer City.

It was a game of runs early as the Hornets came out on fire and hit three early 3-point baskets to take an 11-0 lead. The Knights rallied behind the scoring of 6-foot-8 center Brent Ruch, who scored the first 11 points for Blue Ridge, to tie the score at 14-14 after one period.
