Nearly 20 years ago, the budding biologist landed at Illinois State University. The agricultural department at the time was a bastion of corn, soybeans, livestock, soil, mechanics and economics. The only fish to be found were swimming in a pond at the ISU Farm on Gregory Street in Normal.
