EUREKA - The Woodford County circuit clerk gave her staff unexpected and substantial raises this year, and now the County Board is looking at a budget that may force salary reductions or job cuts in her office.

Circuit Clerk Carol Newtson began fiscal year 2006 with a nine- person staff, but opted to dismiss one employee during the year for poor job performance. The position was left unfilled, and the salary money budgeted for nine staff members was spread over the remaining eight-member staff.
