Summary


SPRINGFIELD - State regulators formally launched what could become a yearlong investigation into Amerens handling of two storms this year that left homes and businesses without power across a huge swath of Illinois.

In action Wednesday, the Illinois Commerce Commission said the probe will determine if outages from a wind storm in July and a winter storm on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 could have been minimized or even prevented by the St. Louis-based utility.
