Zasada Hits Milestone As Red Devils Nip Red Lions

Eureka College forward Michael Zasada made two free throws with 4.3 seconds left to push the Red Devils to an 86-84 basketball victory at Lincoln Christian on Wednesday night. Zasada's 24-point, 12-rebound night included the 1,000th point of his career. Eureka College (9-4), which won for the eighth time in its last nine outings, saw Kameron Bell score 26 of his game-high 32 points the first half. He also grabbed 13 rebounds. Jordan Kindred had 10 points.

No. 8-state ranked Delavan (15-2) watched Zimmer sink 11 of 17 shots from the field and 16 of 18 at the line. Teammate Kelly Waas drilled four 3-pointers en route to 14 points.

Thunder Loses Wild Onedayton Prevails in Six-Round Shootout

DAYTON, Ohio - No one could blame the Bloomington PrairieThunder and Dayton Gems for having to go twice the required rounds in a shootout to determine an International Hockey League winner Wednesday night at Hara Arena. After the teams battled to a 7-7 tie after three periods, including 10 goals in the third period, the Gems pulled out an 8-7 victory in a six-round shootout following a scoreless, five-minute overtime.

11 Won't Return to Redbird Football

NORMAL - Five members of Illinois State's 2009 recruiting class and six other players did not return to the Redbird football team for the spring semester. Defensive linemen John Brewer and Jason Link, receiver Tyler Van Sligtenhorst, linebacker Rodney Johnson and defensive back Troy Randle are no longer Redbirds. All were signed as recruits last February.

Pga Honors Area Native, Journalist

Dave Kindred, an Atlanta native and a 1963 Illinois Wesleyan graduate, has been named the recipient of the 2010 Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism. Kindred, who now lives in Locust Grove, Va., is the 21st individual to be selected, joining such notables as Bob Verdi, Jim McKay, Dan Jenkins and Jack Whitaker. He will be honored April 7 at the 38th Golf Writers Association of America annual spring dinner and awards ceremony in Augusta, Ga.
