Illinois State's Kyle Bragg shot a 2-under-par 70 in Tuesday's final round of the Missouri Valley Golf Championship and placed third with a 222 total at Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Redbirds fired 293 Tueday for a 897 total to finish second behind Wichita State (897) at Dalhousie Golf Club. The Shockers' Connor McHenry (70) and Dustin Garza (72) tied for medalist honors at 216.

BLOOMINGTON - Bloomington High School's track team gave new meaning to the phrase "field of dreams" Tuesday to win its fourth consecutive Intercity Meet. The Purple Raiders trailed Normal West most of the drizzly day before rallying for a 121-104 triumph. BHS topped West in the field events, 55-23.

NORMAL - The conditions were miserable Tuesday at Maxwell Park. Steady drizzle and chilly temperatures had spectators huddled under umbrellas and blankets. Yet, those who braved the elements were treated to a dynamite softball game, with Normal West High School's Lauren Cumbess striking out 28 batters in a 1-0, 14-inning victory over Big 12 Conference rival Bloomington.

Murray's Hit Keys Saints Past Prairie Central

David Murray's two-run single in the fifth inning broke a 4-all tie and gave Central Catholic a 6-4 victory over Prairie Central in a Corn Belt Conference baseball game Tuesday at Fairbury. Murray had two hits and four RBIs to pace the Saints. Ben Heaton (6-2) picked up the victory, with Patrick Duncan getting the save.

Extreme Still Adjusting to Life in Alaska

Nearly halfway through an 11-day Alaskan odyssey, Bloomington Extreme defensive back Etrich Pruitt was still making some adjustments Tuesday. "It's kind of different. The sun doesn't want to ever go away," Pruitt said. "It gets dark, but it doesn't get pitch-black dark like at home. Up here you always see the sun on the horizon.
