GIBSON CITY -- Heartland Bank in Gibson City was robbed Friday afternoon. A man entered the bank about 12:20 p.m. and a gave a teller a note demanding money, Gibson City Police Chief Chris Decker said. He did not say a word, Decker said.

Police Searching for Sexual Assault Suspect

BLOOMINGTON -- Crime Stoppers of McLean County needs the public's help to find a man accused of sexually assaulting a girl between the ages of 13 and 16. Debracey J. Malone, born in 1983, is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 185 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He last lived in Bloomington. He was indicted on charges of criminal sexual assault (force) and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He is named on unrelated warrants charging him with two counts of making cocaine and contempt of court.

BLOOMINGTON -- An Illinois Wesleyan University professor biking across America to raise money for Habitat for Humanity has passed the halfway point. In a telephone interview Friday from Eric, Kan., Greg Shaw said he's shaved a day off his schedule, thanks to tailwinds across New Mexico that helped him ride 150 miles each day for three days in a row. He is averaging 103 miles a day.

Bill Limits Holidays for Sex Offenders

SPRINGFIELD -- Registered sex offenders would be barred from dressing up as Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny or participating in Halloween trick-or-treating under legislation heading toward the governor's desk. Without debate, the Illinois Senate voted unanimously Friday in favor of the proposal, which was floated by state Rep. Bill Mitchell, R-Forsyth, last year.
