The 3-1 vote against the variance came after the board received four hours of testimony Monday about neighbor concerns and Joy Care Center's plans to turn the house into a supervised group home for up to nine ex-inmates.

ISU volleyball clinic The Illinois State adult volleyball clinic will be from 1 to 4 p.m. April 17 in the north gym of Horton Field House. Current ISU volleyball players will assist participants as they improve volleyball skills and learn about game strategy.

House Approves Video-Game Bill
SPRINGFIELD -- Despite lingering concerns about its legality, Gov. Rod Blagojevich's plan to ban the sale of violent video games to minors was approved by the Illinois House Wednesday. The initiative was sent to the Senate for further debate on a 91- 19 vote, but some lawmakers -- including a few who voted in support of the initiative -- expressed doubt that the proposal would withstand a court challenge.

BLOOMINGTON -- Illinois Wesleyan juniors Adam Dauksas and Keelan Amelianovich have been selected to the first team of the Midwest Region basketball squad of d3hoops.com. A 6-foot-3 guard, Dauksas averaged 15.1 points and 5.6 assists. He was named Most Outstanding Player in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
Dunson Player of Year for Big 12 Basketball
BLOOMINGTON -- Bloomington High School senior Dodie Dunson was named Big 12 Conference Player of the Year in basketball, it was announced Wednesday. Dunson also was named to the all-Big 12 Conference team for the third straight season in a vote of league coaches. Dunson was joined on the first team by teammate and fellow Illinois State recruit Brandon Holtz, who was named for the second straight season.

PEORIA -- Three athletes from Bloomington High School and one from Mahomet-Seymour will participate in the Class AA Happening events today at Carver Arena. Brandon Holtz of Bloomington and Tanner Robberstad of Mahomet- Seymour will shoot in the Country Insurance Three-Point Showdown at 5 p.m.
